What are CKDs and CBDs? |
|
Certified Kitchen Designers (CKDs) and Certified Bathroom Designers (CBDs) specialize in the design, planning, and execution of kitchens, bathrooms, and other built-in units throughout the home. Only a select group of expert designers attain the CKD and/or CBD designations, which are not mandatory for practicing kitchen design.
Because of their specialized training, CKDs and CBDs hold a distinct place in the interior design profession. Similar to general interior designers, CKDs and CBDs must meet common core educational requirements, adhere to various legal restrictions and regulations, and follow a professional code of ethics. But their focus on kitchens and bathrooms uniquely qualifies them to handle the technical planning and design of these often complicated, very personal spaces.
Beyond these accreditations is the Certified Master Kitchen & Bathroom Designer (CMKBD) designation. The CMKBD designation is the highest certification level offered, reflecting at least 10 years of experience and continuing education.
